Privacy policy.

In short: we collect information to understand what you'd like to learn, plan future sessions, send updates you've asked for, and answer your questions. We never sell your information or give it to anyone for their own marketing. We don't show you ads or add you to a mailing list you didn't ask for.

Who we are

Handwerk AI is run by Deepa Ramaswamy, a sole proprietor in Canton, Michigan, USA. "We" and "us" on this page mean Handwerk AI. Questions about your information go to [email protected].

This version covers what the website does today: visits, the "Have your say" form and email. Paid workshops aren't open for booking yet. Before they are, we'll update this policy to cover bookings and payments.

What we collect

• When you share your interests ("Have your say"): your email address, your first name, whether the updates are for you, a student or both, the topics and workshop ideas that interest you, and the times that usually suit you. If you suggest an idea of your own, we keep that too. It's required only if you choose "Something else."
• When you email us: what you write and your email address.
• When you visit this website: aggregate visit counts from Cloudflare Web Analytics, such as pages viewed, rough location by country and type of device. It doesn't identify you or use cookies, according to Cloudflare. We don't use advertising trackers.

Please don't send us sensitive personal information, such as health or financial details, in the form or by email.

How we use it

• To help choose workshop topics, formats and times based on the interests and suggestions you share.
• To send the updates you asked for.
• To reply when you contact us.

We only send you Handwerk AI news and updates about free intro classes, workshops, and other new offerings—including sessions at libraries and in the community—if you sign up and then confirm by email. That's at most two emails a month, and every one has an unsubscribe link. If you're interested in something, just reply. Emailing us a question doesn't sign you up for anything.

These emails are sent through Brevo. We use Brevo's anonymous tracking settings for email opens and link clicks, so these statistics aren't linked to individual subscribers in our reports. That's why links in our emails pass through Brevo on their way to our site. Brevo also keeps delivery and subscription records to run the mailing list. We never use any of this to profile anyone or target ads.

To update your interests, fill in the form again with the same email address. We'll email you a link to confirm the change, and your new answers replace your earlier ones only when you confirm. You can also email [email protected].

Who else handles it

We use a few services to run the business. They process information on our behalf, under their own privacy terms:

• Brevo: keeps the "Have your say" list and sends those update emails.
• Google: Gmail, where our email arrives and is sent from.
• Cloudflare: hosting this website, forwarding our email and the visit counts above.

Our promise: we never sell or rent your information, and we never give it to anyone for their own marketing. Apart from the services above, which handle it only to run Handwerk AI, we don't share it with anyone unless the law requires it.

How long we keep it

• The "Have your say" list: kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. If you sign up but never confirm, you aren't added to the list and we don't use your answers.
• When you unsubscribe: you stop getting update emails straight away. Brevo keeps your contact record, marked as unsubscribed, so you aren't emailed again by mistake. Your answers stay in that record unless you ask us to delete them.
• When you ask us to delete your details: we delete your name and answers. If you've unsubscribed, we keep only your email address, marked do-not-send, so you aren't emailed again.
• Emails you send us: kept in our mailbox. You can ask us to delete them.

Your choices

You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Unsubscribing and deleting are separate: unsubscribing stops the emails, and deleting removes your details. Email [email protected]. We aim to reply within two business days.

Age

The "Have your say" form is for adults. If the updates are for someone under 18, a parent or guardian signs up with their own details. We don't ask for the young person's name or details, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18 through this website.

Keeping it safe

Our records are kept in private accounts protected by two-step sign-in, and never on this website. No method is perfect, but we keep what we hold to a minimum.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update this page and the version and date at the top.
